"The God who Speaks"

2020

The Bishopsí Conference of England and Wales has designated 2020 as a Year in celebration of "The God who Speaks", inviting the Church in England and Wales to listen afresh to the Word of God, as did Our Blessed Lady at the Annunciation, to encounter anew the presence of that Word, and to proclaim it afresh in the Church and the World.

This special 'Year of the Word' will be officially launched
on 30 September 2019, the Feast of St Jerome

The Campaign Year will start on Sunday 1st December 2019,
the first Sunday of Advent, the beginning of the Church's Liturgical Year.

The God Who Speaks - Year of the Word 2020 Diocesan Celebration
To mark the special Year of the Word, Archbishop John Wilson is inviting all Parishes in the Diocese to join him for a special diocesan fathering in Aylesford on Saturday 27th June.  More details will be published in due course  but Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon, which will be followed by a BBQ & Picnic and we will be revealing an inspiring programme for the afternoon very shortly.

Blessing of Bibles

The CBCEW Liturgy Office has suggested that parishioners might be invited to bring their Bibles to Mass so that they can be blessed.  They have created a resource for parishes:

Bible Society and the Chelsea Flower show
Garden inspired by Psalm 23
https://www.biblesociety.org.uk/psalm-23/

In May 2020, Bible Society is sponsoring a garden based on Psalm 23 at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2020.
After the Show, it is hoped that communities, churches and schools across the country will be inspired to create their own Psalm 23-based gardens in all kinds of places: church grounds, community plots, disused plots of land, unused school outdoor areas.
There will be special resources for schools. This is particularly important for children who live in cities and may not have had the chance to get involved in gardening before.
