St George’s Cathedral Choir release new hymn recordings
Listen to newly recorded hymns including Ave Maria

The St George’s Cathedral Choirs have released recordings of new hymns to encourage the worship of God through music.
Recorded live at St George’s Cathedral, the newly recorded hymns include Schubert’s Ave Maria by Cathedral Lay Clerk Tamsin Raitt and Franck’s Panis Angelicus by St George’s Cathedral Choir.
Children from the Southwark Singing Programme, which includes children from primary schools across the Archdiocese, also recorded several hymns. This included liturgical hymns, Sanctus and Agnus Dei, as well as the hymn: Lord I lift your name on high.
As part of the Year of Jubilee, Archbishop John Wilson has encouraged the faithful to spend time before the Lord Jesus in Eucharistic adoration. To support this initiative, the Choir recorded hymns used in Eucharistic adoration, including Tantum Ergo and Adoremus in aeternum.
St George’s Cathedral choirs are led by the Archdiocese musical director, Jonathan Schranz, who oversaw the release of the new recordings.
You can watch the hymns on our YouTube channel.
The Southwark Singing Programme is part of the National Schools Singing Programme, generously supported by the Vinehill Trust and Benefact Trust. For more information about how to join the programme please email singing@rcaos.org.uk.
