A Day with Mary, at St George's Cathedral

A Day with Mary

On Saturday 18 December from 10.15am to 5.15pm St George's Cathedral will be holding ‘A Day with Mary’, which will include Mass, confessions, devotions, carols, and guest sermons from invited preachers.

The day is based on the main message of Mary's apparitions at Fatima in 1917, that is, the central truths and devotions of the Catholic faith: the Trinity, the Eucharist, penance, the Rosary and sacrifices for the conversion of sinners.

This special day of devotion is also timely, as on the 4th Sunday of Advent our focus is directed towards the visitation of Mary to Elizabeth.  Recognising that Mary is carrying Jesus, Elizabeth exclaims:

'Why should I be honoured with a visit from the mother of my Lord? For the moment your greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb leapt for joy. Yes, blessed is she who believed that the promise made her by the Lord would be fulfilled.’'

Luke 1. 44-45
