On 20th June 2022, the Rev. Dr Sam Wells will address the urgent and desperate plight of asylum-seekers across the world in the shadow of global wars and conflict, and in the face of the Government’s plans to send refugees arriving in the UK on a one-way flight to Rwanda to have their asylum-claims processed.

Those attending will hear first-hand news and experiences from some of the frontline charities supported by the London Churches Refugee Fund and the refugees they seek to assist; with an opportunity for questions and comments.  This will be followed by refreshments, meeting and greeting.

The London Churches Refugee Fund (LCRF) makes twice-yearly grants to numerous Church and Community refugee projects across London to support their work with destitute asylum seekers in London. The grants are used to offer direct practical help to asylum-seekers, typically for phone credit, emergency payments, hygiene and baby items, and for travel cards to allow asylum-seekers to access drop-ins, language classes, solicitors and more.

To date, the LCRF have made over 450 small grants, totaling over £350,000, to more than 85 projects, many of whom apply year after year. All the work of LCRF is undertaken voluntarily by the Trustees. We have no staffing costs.
