The Inaugural Mass for Caritas Southwark will take place at 12.30 pm on Saturday 18th March 2023 in St George's Cathedral, and will be celebrated by Archbishop John Wilson.
Archbishop Wilson is pleased to invite everyone to attend this special Mass for the launch of Caritas Southwark. The new diocesan commission will promote social action and Catholic charitable activity within our parishes, schools, and wider community, giving support to the vulnerable and those in need.
At this time, Caritas Southwark will particularly seek to support young people, the elderly, refugees and foodbanks. Archbishop Wilson has asked Canon Victor Darlington to lead Caritas Southwark; he is joined by several experienced clergy in each area of the Diocese, and a number of lay-staff and willing volunteers.
Please join Archbishop Wilson and Canon Victor Darlington, the new Director of Caritas Southwark, for this important moment in the life of the Archdiocese, and join the Caritas Team after the service in Amigo Hall for light refreshments, and the opportunity to find out how you can get involved.
There is an inseparable bond between our faith and the poor. May we never abandon them.’ - Pope Francis (Evangelii Gaudium 48)
