Many parishes rightly look to reach out beyond their own community or to help others both at home and abroad. This can be done by parish groups themselves or by cooperating with other Catholic organisations. Some examples might be:
- Ecumenical work, cooperating with members of the local Churches Together
- Interfaith work; especially liaising with non-Christians and offering Christian greetings to non-Christian faiths.
- Outreach to the needy: home visits, foodbank contributions, working with refugees or the homeless and visiting prisoners, This might be done through the St Vincent de Paul Society, the Jesuit Refugee Service, by volunteering at a soup kitchen with the Missionaries of Charity or through the Prison Advice Care Trust
- Outreach to the needy in other countries. This could be in cooperation with CAFOD or Missio, or perhaps an organisation such as the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre the Friends of the Holy Land It might also be done via twinning, and volunteers are essential in keeping the contacts going with other parishes.
