The Southwark Marriage and Family Life (MFL) team is responsible for initiating, fostering and supporting activities in the diocese that will enable married couples more fully to live out their sacrament of matrimony by enriching their relationships.
Importantly, that includes marriage preparation courses run by married couples working with clergy where there are obvious opportunities for evangelisation and missionary discipleship.
The MFL team also work to support family life generally – including those who have been bereaved or separated – in response to the Church’s universal call to the Christian way. Our aim, as a team, is to open the eyes of individuals (including children) as well as couples and families to the joy and beauty of their Christian faith. We do all this by having coordinators, lay and clerical, in all three diocesan pastoral areas working together under the direction of the Episcopal Vicar.
Please note that much of the work of the Team has being carried out online during the pandemic but it hopes to move to a hybrid situation of meeting both in person and online this Autumn / Winter
