The Holy Land is an important place of pilgrimage for Christians, with the unique opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Christ and the Apostles, It offers the chance to bring the Gospel stories to life through the senses and to deeply consider the very roots of our faith.
In early 2020, just before COVID-19 reached the UK, Bishop Paul Hendricks led a joint ecumenical pilgrimage with the Southwark Catholic and Anglican communities. Prior to that, Canon John Weatherill, Episcopal Vicar for Finance and Parish Priest at St John the Baptist, Purley, led his parishioners on a first-time pilgrimage in February 2019.
We hear from both about their experience of undertaking a pilgrimage in the Holy Land.
