Every day Saints of Southwark recognises the unsung saints in our parishes who put the words of Christ into action.
Faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead
Every day in our parishes, there are unsung saints who put the words of Christ into action. What they may see as ordinary, is actually extraordinary.
To recognise their work in being true disciples of Christ, the Archdiocese of Southwark will recognise parishes, priests, parishioners or projects for their work in their community. There are many in our parishes who are Every day Saints of Southwark.
Pope Francis said:
"How many, many men and women - whose names we do not know – honour our people, honour our Church because they are strong in carrying forward their lives, their work, their family, their faith – these our brothers and sisters are saints! Every day saints! Hidden saints among us!"
As Scripture makes clear (Ephesians 2:10), we are created for Good Works and we should walk in the ways the Lord Jesus wants us to.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
To be a true follower of Christ it means putting our faith into action, because “faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead” (James 2:17). This message is what Catholic parishes across the Archdiocese of Southwark are doing every day and this is what we should all look to do in our lives.
