Holy Week at St George's Cathedral, Southwark

Holy Week commences on Palm Sunday, when Jesus rides into Jerusalem on a donkey, lauded by the people. However, the mood changes, and the same people are asking for his crucifixion only days later.

Archbishop Wilson's Palm Sunday Homily

We collectively enter into the Passion of Jesus Christ, that is his life, death and resurrection, during the three holy days of prayer, known as the Easter Triduum. This holiest time in the Church's year consists of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday, bringing us to the triumph of Christ over death and the joyful season of Easter.

Parishes throughout Southwark will be celebrating Holy Week services as well as offering Confession and Adoration.  To find church details by area, please refer to the parishes section in our directory.

Archbishop John Wilson will be celebrating the Easter liturgies at St George's Cathedral, marked in red on the poster below.  All are welcome in person.

Please note that other than the Chrism Mass at 11.30 am on Wednesday 13th April 2022, the Holy Week liturgies will not be live-streamed from the Cathedral this year.
